Compensation over R 3.1 million awarded to Motorcyclist

A Major male client was involved in a motor vehicle collision where he was travelling on his motor cycle. As a result of the collision the following bodily injuries were sustained:

• Fractured left tibia resulting in the amputation of the lower leg; 
• Loss of teeth;
• Facial lacerations; 
• Contusions to the back.

On 27 August 2024 the claim was settled with 75% concession of the merits, and R 3 115 246.50 in respect of the quantum of the claim which is set out as follows:

• R 1 27 5000.00 in respect of general damages; 
• R 830 448.00 in respect of past loss of earnings; 
• R 1 00 9798.50 in respect of future loss of earnings.
• The claimant was further provided with undertaking for payment up to 75% of the future accommodation of the claimant in a hospital, or future medical services or supplying of goods related to the injuries sustained as a result the collision.
