A Major male client was involved in a motor vehicle collision between two vehicles, wherein he was travelling on his motorcycle. As a result of the collision the following bodily injuries were sustained:
- Head injury;
- Fractured right scapula;
- Multiple rib fractures;
- Bilateral lung contusions;
- Torn right ACL;
- Soft tissue injury to the knee;
- Fractured ankle with an open wound;
- Multiple areas of scarring.
On 5 February 2024, the claim was settled with 100% concession of the merits, and R 4 287 165.00 for the quantum of the claim (excluding the claim for expenses incurred for past medical treatment), which comprises the following:
- R 3 387 165.00 in respect of past and future loss of earnings;
- R 900 000.00 in respect of general damages resulting from bodily injuries;
- An undertaking for payment of the future accommodation of the claimant in a hospital, or future medical services or supplying of goods related to the injuries sustained by the claimant in the collision.
